FATAL BOATING ACCIDENT
Four persons lost their lives in a boating accident in the River Tacy on Wednesday night. They were returning to Devonport in a motor-boat after picnicking on the river bank, when the boat struck a submerged rock or tree and was holed. The whole party of nine persons were thrown into the water, and Arthur Peters, aged 32, and Mrs. Gertrude LAWS, a widow, and her two sons,(Edward Robert) aged nine and Ronald James aged five, were drowned.

So an accident rather than murder-suicide.her husband had died in 1917 in Belgium/France a  Private who served  in the Corps of Hussars.
